1. Introduction
World Lux Cruises (“World Lux Cruises,” “WLC,” “we,” “us,” “our”) is operated by Sharaf Travel Services (L.L.C.) a licensed travel agency registered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect through worldluxcruises.com (the “Site”) and when you make a booking with us, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
This Policy should be read together with our Terms and Conditions. By using the Site or making a booking, you acknowledge this Policy.
2. Scope
This Policy applies to visitors to the Site and to Guests who make enquiries or bookings through World Lux Cruises. It covers data we collect directly from you, and data generated through your use of the Site (such as cookies).
It does not cover the privacy practices of the Cruise Lines or other third parties once your data has been passed to them to fulfil your booking — their own privacy policies apply to their handling of your data, and we encourage you to review them.
3. Personal Data We Collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Full name, title, date of birth, nationality, gender.
- Passport number, issuing country, and expiry date, and other identification details required to process your cruise booking.
- Email address, phone/WhatsApp number, home address, country of residence.
- Sailing selected, cabin type, number and names of guests, special requests (e.g. dietary, accessibility, celebration occasions), loyalty numbers.
- Card details or bank transfer details needed to process payment (processed via our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers).
- Records of enquiries, emails, calls, and WhatsApp messages between you and us.
- Whether you’ve opted in or out of promotional communications.
- IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, and how you found the Site, collected via cookies and similar technologies.
Sensitive information. We do not knowingly collect sensitive categories of data (e.g. health information) unless you voluntarily provide it — for example, disclosing a medical condition or mobility requirement so it can be passed to the Cruise Line to arrange appropriate assistance onboard.
4. How We Collect Your Data
- When you submit an enquiry, make a booking, contact us by phone, email, or WhatsApp, or sign up for marketing updates.
- Through cookies and analytics tools when you browse the Site.
- From third parties – such as the Cruise Line (e.g. booking status updates) or your travel agent/sub-agent, where applicable.
5. How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data to:
- Process enquiries and confirm, manage, and administer your cruise booking.
- Share required guest and travel document details with the relevant Cruise Line so they can issue your booking, comply with immigration/port authority requirements (e.g. Advance Passenger Information), and provide onboard services.
- Process payments, deposits, and refunds.
- Communicate with you about your booking (confirmations, payment reminders, itinerary changes, travel documents).
- Provide customer service and respond to enquiries or complaints.
- Send you marketing communications about offers, sailings, and promotions.
- Improve and personalise the Site, and measure the performance of our marketing campaigns.
- Prevent fraud, and comply with our legal, regulatory, and tax obligations.
6. Who We Share Your Data With
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed to run our business and fulfil your booking, including with:
The Cruise Line operating your sailing. This is central to how a booking works: we pass your identity, travel document, contact, and booking details to the relevant Cruise Line so they can create and administer your booking. The Cruise Line then processes this data under its own privacy policy, and may be based outside the UAE.
Payment processors and banks, to process deposits, balance payments, and refunds.
IT, hosting, and website service providers, who support the Site and our booking systems.
Marketing and communications platforms, including website analytics tools, Meta (Facebook/Instagram) advertising and pixel tools, and WhatsApp Business messaging/automation platforms, to communicate with you and measure our marketing.
Sub-agents or corporate travel bookers, where a booking is made through them on your behalf.
Government, immigration, port, or regulatory authorities, where required by law or by the Cruise Line’s port-entry requirements.
Professional advisors (legal, accounting, insurance), where necessary.
In connection with a business transfer, restructuring, or as required by law.
8. International Data Transfers
Because Cruise Lines, payment processors, and some of our service providers are based outside the UAE, your personal data may be transferred to, and processed in, other countries — which may have different data protection standards than the UAE. Where we transfer data internationally, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected consistently with this Policy and the PDPL, including relying on the Cruise Line’s or provider’s own data protection safeguards.
9. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to operate correctly, remember your preferences, understand how the Site is used, and show you relevant advertising (including via Meta and Google advertising tools). You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect how the Site functions.
10. Marketing Communications and Your Choices
10.1 We may contact you by email or WhatsApp with offers, new sailings, and promotions.
11. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as needed to administer your booking, meet our legal, accounting, and tax obligations, and handle any related claims, and thereafter for a reasonable period in line with applicable UAE record-keeping requirements. Marketing data is retained until you opt out or, if inactive, for a reasonable period thereafter.
12. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Your Rights
Subject to the PDPL and its Executive Regulations, you may have the right to: request access to the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent (e.g. to marketing) at any time; and lodge a complaint with the UAE Data Office. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 17.
14. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect data directly from, individuals under 18. Bookings must be made by an adult (18+), who may include minors as travelling guests on a booking; the adult booker is responsible for providing any minor guests’ data and confirming they have authority to do so.
15. Third-Party Links and Cruise Line Policies
The Site may contain links to Cruise Line websites and other third-party sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. Once your data is shared with a Cruise Line/Technology Partner to create your booking, its handling by that Cruise Line is governed by the Cruise Line’s own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review at the time of booking.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The updated version will be posted on the Site.
